Pantsmaggedon

pants

I wore pants to church today.  It doesn’t matter, but I counted 17 others (I live in Boston) (also, I don’t close my eyes during prayers), and a couple purple shirts and ties.  It was a non issue, and I had a really good experience singing Christmas songs and listening to uplifting messages of love and peace (it’s no secret that I don’t make it to church very often).  I’m told they discussed Pants in priesthood meeting, led by the teacher wearing a purple tie.  My niece Bryn was quite pleased to have been wearing a purple sweater and purple tights, a happy coincidence (she had a friend wearing pants and LOTS of purple who briefed her on the pants / purple situation).

Of far greater amusement, several people asked me if Ivy was wearing underwear.

I’m happy to report that she was indeed, and still was last time I checked.  But that was three hours ago, so things could have changed.

I'm sure the spirit of the season can be equally felt in pants, skirts, dresses, pajamas, pink, purple or without underwear. :) Glad it was an uplifting experience!

Now, to the real important question: Where did you get your shoes? ;)

When discussing this with another, they mentioned that wearing pants/purple didn't seem like a big deal. I disagreed because I think by wearing pants/purple, you are making the decision to "label" yourself. Everything you now say is filtered through that label. It's always a big deal to declare your ideals.
It is also a way to show your support and see that you are not alone in your thinking (or that you are).

Wish I was at church with you Laura - I was the only one in my ward. A few folks were wearing purple but I never found out if it was deliberate or not.

What is with the purple? I didn't know it was ever taboo to begin with?

Aunt Sheila- the purple was to show your acceptance and support of the pants wearers even if you weren't wearing pants yourself (or if you were a man).

Way to wear the pants in style, La.
