Just when I could sort of envision maybe-potentially-eventually getting the hang of having two children, my sister and her husband took a long overdue vacay to some tropical island thingy, so Tim and I (and Lance and Dani and half the ward) inherited three additional offspring for the next two weeks.
Cami was kind enough to write out detailed schedules for the days they’ll be away (I’m not-so-good on the organizational front).
Day 1: Take five children to church. Five. Whooo. Oh, and it started at 9:00 am. We got everybody ready, well sort of…, and were about to head down to the car. We lined up the children and took inventory.
Tim: Everybody fed?
Me: Check.
Tim: Hair combed?
Me: Check.
Tim: Everybody dressed?
Me: Hmm… Calvin is missing shoes, and Ivy is missing shoes. And tights.
Ivy (laughs and looks at me like I’m certifiably stupid, which is a look I’m getting used to from children): Uhhhh.. and UNDERWEAR!
Me: D’oh.
Then she lifted up her dress and flashed us, just to drive home the point.
…..
Later that evening, after our advent party at the Johnstons, Lance and I were attempting to get the kids ready for bed. Suddenly Ivy was naked and Lance was looking a little panicked.
Me: What’s the matter?
Lance: Ivy didn’t have on any underwear under her tights.
Me: I put them on her this morning… Ivy, where are your Rapunzel underwear?
Ivy: I don’t know. I guess they’re somewhere else.
Added onto Cami’s detailed schedule: check Ivy once an hour to make sure she isn’t going commando.

Ha! Have fun and good luck!
They say it takes a village...!
Thanks for giving me a good laugh today Laura!
Good luck Laura, Tim, Lance and Dani!
Ha, ha! Wishing you luck. I'm sure you'll do fine and life with just two will seem a breeze after dealing with five! ;)
Whew, so far so good, I'd say.
I told you I would come out and help. But then I changed my mind. I decided Cami and Peter needed help more than you so I guess I will go to that island thingy and keep them from drowning.
Thank you times a million. I feel like that lazy Miss Mazy way off in palm beach. But I'm having a wonderful time, and glad that I have Horton(s) to sit on my egg(s). Even when the egg takes off it's underwear.
This is delightful!
This is awesome! It's just a given that when mom is away, the little details are going to get missed. Everyone seems to survive it though...except maybe the babysitters!
Will you guys come watch our kids next? We've never been to any tropical island thingy.
I'm quite entertained just thinking about it! You were supposed to call me last night, but I forgive you! I'll try you again tonight and see how the world is turning in Boston!
