For the dad, while you’ve been elsewhere.

I took a shower.  Squiggles gave herself a manicure.  I have no idea where she got the polish, given that I’m not exactly known for my well-kempt nails.

Owen and Anna sent some books for Lily.  Squiggles was beside herself with joy to have some new reading material.  “I’m gonna borrow Lily’s books, Mommy.  She can’t read, but my can read, Mommy.”  She has been taking them everywhere – preschool, Aunt Cami’s, and restaurants.  She takes them to bed with her, and they each get their own (full-sized) blanket.  (P.S.  Squiggles cannot read, not a single letter.  But it’s adorable when she thinks she’s reading.)

Yesterday morning, this little person said, “Mommy, you need to take my picture ‘cause my look so so pretty.”  Watch out – she’s clearly the next Style Rookie.  Yeah, she’s scratching her bum, or maybe picking a diaper wedgie.  Intentional fashion statement.  You’ll see – everybody will be doing it after this photo gets published.  You saw it here first.

We' hung out with Nana yesterday.  This was the ninth or tenth bib Dr. McPukey had sported in a matter of a couple hours.

I had to pee (it happens).  I came back to a bewildered baby:

Things have cooled down so we dug out the winter gear for our walks.

She just loves being this warm and cozy.

(She’s fine the second we step outside.)

Squiggles and I have had a busy night.  First we had a cookie-making party, then we had a bubble-bath party, and now we’re having a popcorn-and-M&M-and-cookie movie party.  She’s been excited about this all week – it’s become a Saturday night tradition.

She’s been really clingy this week with her dad gone, but I can’t really lift her up yet.  Instead, I’ve tried to shower her with love.  In the form of sugar, I guess.

:) Looks like things are in full swing in your neck of the woods; Squiggles making sure there's never a dull moment!

Those pics of Lily all bundled up are hilarious (in a pathetic, I feel her pain, she's just so darn cute even when she's mad sort of way). Stay warm!

You are definitely not lacking for entertainment! Squiggles looks quite pleased with herself, whether polishing her hand and arm, reading, or eating the delicious popcorn mix! Lily is darling even when she's on the other side of a sticker and inside the bunting! Such fun!

There are so many cute things happening in this post that I'm not sure I can process them all. Squiggles nails are exquisite. Lily is so squishy and sweet, I can't stand that I can't hold her. I want some of that popcorn situation. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go pick my bum while spontaneously taking a picture of myself...

I can't wait to see Karen's picture. I love Squiggles and Dr. McPukey- tell them to keep up the good work.

I'm glad to see all was well while Tim was away. We really enjoyed having Tim here with us for a bit. I'm not sure he would share that sentiment. It can get pretty chaotic around here, but Tim managed to stay calm and polite. He's good like that!

Happy Birthday Laura Leigh! We love you very, very, very much!

p.s. I love that Squiggles tuck her books in and treats them like people. I feel that way about some books as well.

I was so, so, so relieved to read that it was just polish on Squiggles. I thought it was something much more gruesome.

Does this mean that Tim is checking out residencies in UT? Please, please, oh pretty please!

And Uncle Dave, you made me laugh. Hard. :)

Her pigtails might be the cutest thing in this world.
What a fun idea to have parties with your kids! I should do that :)
And Lily's face is so sweet! You guys make cute kids!

I'm totally loving the polish job! More is always better, right? And that solo parenting thing is no fun at all. I hope the end is in sight. Somewhere visible through the popcorn. . . . . :-)
