When I went to your town on the wide open shore,
Oh I must confess, I was drawn, I was drawn to the ocean,
I thought it spoke to me.
It said, "Look at us, we're not churches, not schools,
not skating ponds, swimming pools,
And we have lost people, haven't we though?"

Tim and I spent Saturday riding the coastline of Newport, Rhode Island. The area is famous for the takes-ten-to-twelve-maids-and-days-to-clean mansions, but I can't figure out why anybody cares about all those rich-people houses when there is the ocean to gawk at.
It was grand.
P.S. Does anybody know the proper penance for inadvertantly killing 10-20 snails?

Wow, it's looks beautiful and you look tough as heck.
The rocky New England Coast is so wonderful! I love the pictures!
I agree, God's creations are so much more beautiful than anything rich people could build. The ocean is amazing and I wish I lived closer to it. You're lucky.
Beautiful! I want to go there with you - although maybe not on a bike. I'm sure I'd embarass myself and you if I were "riding".
Kim, I'll take you there if you come up. And you wouldn't embarrass yourself. It turns out that riding a bike is (exactly) like riding a bike. And I stop every two minutes to look around, so you wouldn't really have an opportunity to get tired...
Laura,
Looks liek you are having so much fun in teh EAST, I miss you. I hope we can see each other soon, it is so pretty. talk to you later

Fun bike ride! I'd be out riding all the time if I had the ocean to ride next to... SO pretty!
Dear Laura-
If you ever want to see your leisure bike alive again, you had better invite me next time you crash the rich people beach.
PLLLLLLLLBBBBTTT (that's a raspberry being blown at you)
p.s. lovely pictures and such.
FUN! I'm with you COMPLETELY with my love of the sea: Who, when given the choice to view a house verses an ocean would choose the house? The ocean is completely superior.
Penance? Ask the French; they'll tell you. ;)
Thank you for sharing with us, it is cool seeing the ocean, I remember goign to the beach-ocean when we lived on the East coast and it is different then on the west coast. thanks for sharing, looks pretty
