Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks

When I first arrived in Boston, I was a die-hard Yankees fan (meaning that I knew who Roger Clemens was, and could have picked him out of a lineup... if there were three people in line, and two of them were Asian). I quickly learned, however, that being a Yankees fan will get you killed. Dead. In Boston. Tim gave me a Red Sox hat for my birthday last year (for my protection, he said), so now I'm practically a rabid Sox fan. Meaning that I know their colors are red and blue. Actually, I have a crush on Jason Bay, who seems like such a nice boy, and Jacoby Ellsbury, who seems to have superpower running skills. The problem is that while I was a die-hard Yankees fan, I got used to talking about them so I occasionally (read: frequently) accidentally refer to the Red Sox as the Yankees, a practice that I am told is "not that cool" and has not won me any local friends.

Tim somehow got tickets to Sunday's game, but told me that if I accidentally cheered for the Yankees, he would not prevent the masses from chopping me into bits or impaling me, and that if they for some reason spared me, he himself would remove me bodily from the premises.

The game was awesome, and I'm (phew) still alive.

Jacoby Ellsbury does, in fact, have superpower running skills. Did you see his steal of HOME the other day? Quite impressive.

And why is it that your blog consists only of fun things that make me jealous? Climbing trees, baseball games, half marathons...okay, not so much the last one.

Erin, Tim would like me to tell you that not only did we see it, he PREDICTED that he would steal home at least 45 minutes before he actually did. He's very pleased about that fact.

You know, you always have been such an avid professional sports fan. In fact, I can't remember a year gone by without you holing up in the basement geared up to watch the play-offs or the superbowl. You are a die-hard. Oh wait...maybe that wasn't you...no. It was, in fact, NOT you. Not ever. Not even one time. Tim, you could win another award for getting Laura to attend such a sporting event. Most impressive.

FUN! At least you didn't get slammed in the head with a foul ball!:) (Now that would be embarrassing) Most of us girls DO get confused about who we're watching when it comes to sports, that's perfectly NORMAL. You and Tim's next date should be snuggling up and watching Fever Pitch...Great movie.:)

My brothers (all three of them) would actually kill to go to that game you just attended with Tim, but they would for sure not make the mistake of cheering for the Yankees! Way to go Laura, now you are a significant fan of America's favorite past time. My bro's are going to be SO jealous!

I'm glad you're alive and well, Laura! I'll have to try the great American pasttime someday, too. You should come watch the Phillies someday - oh, and visit us while you're at it!

I'm actually quite impressed with your Red Sox name dropping. The fact that you have a crush on Jason Bay speaks very highly of you.

And thank you to Tim for saving your very life and converting you to the true team. Yankees do indeed suck on several profound levels beyond the fact that liking them is a form of suicide in this part of the country.

Laura I hope you enjoyed the experience I got to go to a major league game when I was Eight in KC Mo. to the Athletics who became the Oakland A's. Had seats right behind home plate and all I wanted to do was catch a foul ball and made my Grandpa take me to the upper deck where you couldn't see any thing. Did not catch a ball either

LOL. ;) In your defense: Boston residents were called 'yankees' - in face all of New England was - so you just call them Red Soxs Yanks any time you want! I've got your back!
Although, I'm a Mariners fan and you know how well we win when in competition... hmmm...
