In which I am named Alpha Mom of the Year

I am pretty much the most on-top-of-my-life working mother that I know.  For example,

  • I’m continually exceeding expectations at work (read: after five years, people still ask Erin who that “blonde girl” is)
  • I have a year’s worth of menus and recipes planned and organized in a fun, color-coordinated file system (read: we sometimes eat cheerios for dinner, right off the floor where they have been sitting since breakfast and/or lunch)
  • I have weeks worth of laundry washed, ironed, and folded (read: irons terrify me, and we have  resorted at times to taking our laundry to the dry cleaners just to be washed… did you know they did that?)
  • My house is spotless – no clutter, dirt, fingerprints on glass, or sticky residues on furniture due to toddler activities (read: sigh….)
  • I am always on top of appointments, meetings, deadlines, and all manner of other responsibilities (read:  is today Sunday or Monday or Tuesday?  Crap!  – am I supposed to be in a meeting???)
  • I’m on the board of several important community organizations (read: I sometimes wave to the neighbors, who wave back and then ask each other who that blonde girl is)
  • All this and never a tear or complaint.

One of my awesome alpha-mom attributes is my ability to get everything done that I want to, and way ahead of schedule.  For example, here are the awesome family pictures that I wanted to post TODAY, RIGHT NOW.  Nevermind that Cami took them a year ago and the baby has tripled in size since then.  I wanted a year to pass before I shared them with the world.  It’s all according to plan.  Hmph.

Don’t worry – none of us has changed that much except that I’m much skinnier, much taller, and much younger looking.

They're still great pictures despite the longer shelf life. Cute family.

No worries Laura, I've yet to meet a working mother (or a non-working mother for that matter) who is on top of all things. I don't think that mom exists.

I think it was the perfect idea to wait one year to post those pictures. I don't think I would have appreciated them in the same profound way like I do today.

The are lovely.

Love the pictures! I remember the one of Squiggles (about a year ago) with headless parents. What a joy to put heads on them! I think the one of Squiggles was adorable but now the pictures are complete.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit. You do a lot more than many mothers I know and I think you're pretty awesome.

As your mother, I have learned to appreciate all of your talents and to enjoy pictures if and when I get them! They are darling. Tim still looks so handsome, baby is adorable and you look lovely. And you are still a talented writer!

It's hard to take bad pictures of beautiful people who obviously all adore each other.

I for another one am thrilled to see them again after a year. Remember when we thought it was so funny to take a standing picture because she couldn't even stand up yet?!? I guess that's the only joke lost in the time warp. :)

Wow, you constantly amaze me with your ability to get things done. Way to go Laura! (Read: I didn't read any of those reads.)

I am much the same minus the working mom part! Maybe that is a little sad that I can't keep the house in order since I don't work outside of the home. Hmmm.... I can't wait til next year to see this years family photo's!
