Supernanny

Tim's mom went back to teaching school earlier this month, so she hasn't been able to watch Squiggles while I'm at work. Thankfully, my sister Cami's family has generously opened their home to my daughter.

Everything is going pretty well with a couple exceptions. Lately, the instant I arrive to drop off or pick up the baby, I am bombarded unsolicited advice: instructions as to where to put the baby, whether to give her a binky, whether she should be put in a bouncy chair, whether she needs to take a nap, whether I need to read her a book, what toy she'd like to play with, whether she is hungry or wants more food, etc. I know she means well, and it's hard to complain about somebody who clearly adores my infant... but that's another thing.

I think she's starting to think the baby is her baby - not mine. She gets upset when I come to get her, and sometimes even cries when we leave. I don't know what to do. I mean, I have enough pressure as it is, Ivy!

Any advice?

Here's my advice...stand back and let Ivy take over. She seems to know what she's doing!

Ivy says Amelia

-Should take her binky ALL the time unless she's actually sucking on it, in which case Ivy should pull it out and put it back in until she doesn't want it anymore
-Needs at least 3 blankets to be comfortable (on a 90 degree day)
-Should not actually play with any of her toys, and would really be better off admiring them in Ivy's waving arms
-Should NOT disappear into the back bedroom and take a nap. It's highly disturbing.
-Should really try some of Ivy's apples. They're quite tasty and nutritious

Ivy's full of forgotten baby wisdom.

Smile, nod, and say "What a great idea." I mean she is right there on the ground-level and her advice shouldn't be dismissed. Old people and children, best advice givers ever.

That Ivy. She is so bossy.

And they're both really so cute.

LOL. :)

Sorry, I have no advice. Aren't you getting enough from Ivy? :)

On another note: Look at baby squiggle's HAIR! Is it red? I can't tell.

oh dear oh dear--I seriously had to read this post twice, at first I thought, "doesn't she think Cami will see this post? That's a little rude!" Yeah, I should remember my elementary school instructions--read to the END and THEN begin the test. hahaha. Good luck with that, Laura!!
